A child is not a tiny adult. In developing our training programs, grading system, curriculum, lesson plans and teaching methods, we have carefully considered the unique needs of children and teens. These days, with violence on the rise and bullying becoming more and more common, both the educational system and parents face difficulties in handling violence directed at children. It is essential that young people acquire skills, abilities, techniques, tactics and the confidence to cope with any unexpected confrontation inflicted upon them. In Israel, where Krav Maga was created, nurtured and continues to be developed, children and teenagers have been successfully taught the system for over four decades. Countless parents enrol their children into sport programs and after school clubs to build their confidence, improve fitness and have fun. Krav Maga can offer your child an additional vital ingredient and that is to ‘learn self defence’.
Our Krav Maga junior program teaches children how to avoid dangerous situations when possible and how to effectively defend themselves. The system consists of realistic self defence techniques that are effective against both young peers and adult assailants. In addition to making the techniques instinctive, we pay equal focus to the thinking process behind them: when to use a technique; when not to; what’s the right thing to do in a given situation. If you are concerned about your child’s safety, Krav Maga training will give you peace of mind, especially when you are not with them.
Junior Krav Maga is taught in a fun learning environment with the right appropriate dose of reality thrown in. Our younger children will imitate a lot of self defence techniques through play. This is an important part of their learning as it prepares them for their next program. The International Krav Maga Federation (IKMF) has a sophisticated grading system to reward children accomplishments, monitor their progress and motivate them to achieve more. Our programs have been designed for two age groups in mind starting from 5 and running through to 16 years old.
